Mr. Barker is a Specialist Portfolio Manager – Treasuries in the Fixed Income Group and is Co-Head of Global Rates. He is responsible for the portfolio management of Treasuries, TIPS, agencies, money market instruments, commodity strategies, and derivatives. In conjunction with the Generalist Portfolio Managers, he implements decisions on duration and yield curve positioning across all MetWest and several TCW products. Prior to joining MetWest in 1997, he worked at Coast Asset Management in their futures and options department. Mr. Barker earned a BBA in Business with a minor in classical studies from Loyola Marymount University.

Ms. Karp is a Senior Portfolio Manager and Trader in the Fixed Income group where she trades investment grade securities and cross over corporate securities and is a Portfolio Manager for the MetWest Corporate Bond Fund. Prior to joining MetWest in 1997, she was with the fixed income operations department at The Capital Group. Ms. Karp earned her BS in Business from University of Arizona.

Mr. Van Gelderen is a Specialist Portfolio Manager in the Fixed Income group and is Co-Head of Global Securitized. Most recently, he was Senior Portfolio Manager and Head of Securitized Markets at American Century Investments, where he was responsible for all Core, Core Plus, Income and Government mortgage funds and ETFs. Within Securitized Markets, he oversaw a broad range of products across credit sub-sectors. Previously, Mr. Van Gelderen was Co-Head of Guggenheim Partners’ $38 billion Structured Credit investment desk for eight years, where he guided investment strategy and oversaw investment sourcing, analysis, and trade execution. Prior to that, he also served as a Senior Trader and Portfolio Manager for Structured Products at Stark Investments and Vice President of Whole Loan Transaction Management at Countrywide Securities Corporation. He started his career with Thelen Reid & Priest LLP where he was an Associate for the Business and Finance Department. Mr. Van Gelderen holds a BA in English from Duke University and a JD from Georgetown University Law Center.

Mr. Toshima is a Senior Portfolio Manager with a focus on credit research in the Fixed Income group. Mr. Toshima joined TCW in 2010 from Dimaio Ahmad Capital where he evaluated bond, leverage loan, and equity investment opportunities in the telecom, cable, and satellite industries. Prior to Dimaio Ahmad, Mr. Toshima managed the distressed debt allocation within a fund-of-funds strategy at Northwater Capital. Before that, he worked in the investment banking group at Merrill Lynch. Mr. Toshima earned a BA in Asian Studies at Occidental College, an MA in Asian Studies from Yale University, and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. While pursuing his BA, he spent a year in Tokyo studying at Waseda University.
